WWE and 2K collaborated on a crossover effort to promote Borderlands 4 during Sunday's Clash in Paris event. The beloved tag team, The Street Profits, came out in gear inspired by the series, making them look like Psycho Bandits with a neat blue LED inside for their eyes. They also made a similar pose to the front cover of the first Borderlands.
Borderlands 4 Gets Big Entrance
The Street Profits, formed of Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford, competed against the Wyatt Sicks for the Tag Team Championships during the PLE event Clash in Paris from WWE. They ultimately lost, due to a few interferences in the match, but The Street Profits won style points from their gear. The masks look ripped straight from the Borderlands series with an excellent paint job and their blue glowing eyes. Their jeans are also stylised in a cel-shaded fashion, making them stand out in the Parisian stadium.
The Borderlands logo was shown prominently on the Eiffel Tower-inspired stage, in addition to Dawkins' shirt. The Street Profits text was also shown in the game's iconic font. It's an impressive promotional feat, despite the team losing their match. It would be cool if these masks got added to WWE 2K25 at some point in the future, but right now, nothing is confirmed.
The Next Entry Releases Soon
Borderlands 4 is due to launch on September 12 for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 a little later, on October 3.
Borderlands 4 is not available on the PS4 and Xbox One.
Developed by Gearbox Software, the fourth entry continues the looter-shooter title with lots of guns, a hoverbike, and new areas to explore with your fellow Vault Hunters. You'll also gain access to a grappling hook, adding more manouverability to the FPS title.
This time, it won't be on the planet Pandora. Instead, your character crash lands into Kairos and tries to take down the Timekeeper, a new antagonists who wants to keep his "perfect order." This dictator may be hard to deal with. Thankfully, you'll have all manner of Action Skills, skill trees, and movement abilities to help you counter his forces.
The game sounds like it has expanded its environments to feel more lived in. "For Borderlands 4, I didn't want it to be big for the sake of being big," said Borderlands 4 creative director Graeme Timmins to Hardcore Gamer. "I wanted to pack it with things to do all the time. So, we invested in the dynamic event system that crams the world with things to do."
You can play the game solo or with up to three friends online. There's also two-player split-screen multiplayer for those who want to play locally. If you have friends on different consoles, Borderlands 4 has cross-play; you just need to make a SHIFT account. "We like to think about missions as a single player thing that can be enhanced with co-op," said Timmins in the same Hardcore Gamer interview.
